This covid couple’s wedding plans were up in the air for a hot minute, but everything came together perfectly in the end! Jemma and Callum had their modern wedding at the Calile Hotel; complete with fun colorful florals, great style and, a procession with their fur babies! Out of everything, what struck me most was the strength + love of the relationships present.
To start it all off, Jemma’s two besties / future bridesmaids surprised the couple with engagement photos. I was so touched by how excited they were when they reached out to book. You could tell they were just such good friends. When we shot their engagement photos a few months before the wedding, there was still so much uncertainty. With the borders closed, her besties remained stuck down in Victoria. I found out then that her friends were planning, if needed, to fly to Queensland two weeks before the wedding to put themselves through quarantine. All so they could be there for Jemma. For anyone overseas reading this, in Australia - you have to quarantine in a hotel for fourteen days, at your own expense. Now that is dedication.
Two weeks before the wedding, most Queensland restrictions had ceased - but the borders remained shut to Victoria. So the girls made their way up north and went through with their quarantine plan. You can imagine that after all that, the morning of the wedding was beyond special. Jemma and the girls got ready just the three of them, blasting epic throwback tunes, and enjoying every second together. Callum, with his groomsman and grooms woman, was across the hall, enjoying a slow morning of chat & good drinks. The vibe had shifted. When we shot their engagement photos, there were nerves and fear, and general uncertainty. By the wedding day, that had all dissipated. Everyone was absolutely relaxed.
The relaxed vibe lasted through to the ceremony, which was full of love. I think everyone was just so grateful to be present and finally celebrating Jemma + Cal. Honestly, it was pretty damn perfect + I feel so lucky to have been a part of this day!
